Martin built Boeing B-29-1-MO Superfortress, serial 42-6232, Kickapoo II. Assigned to 792d Bombardment Squadron of the 468th Bombardment Group. It was damaged on its second combat mission on 20 June 1944, then modified as a tanker, flying 36 missions over The Hump. It was declared "war weary" on 25 November 1944 and returned to the US.
