International Association of Specialized Kinesiologists is a non-profit association, founded by Jim Reid, Gordon Stokes and other kinesiologists in May 1987 and currently led by an international Board of Directors

History:

Following the development of “Health from Within”, which became the system known today as “Touch For Health”, more and more people were trained and began to move in directions which Dr. Thie never anticipated. With these new directions, there developed a need to have a forum for the expression, sharing and support of these new ideas.

Jim Reid and a few colleagues founded the Association of Specialized Kinesiologists in 1987. Gordon Stokes suggested that an "I" be placed in front of the ASK for ‘International’ and IASK was then incorporated as a Non-Profit Association in the State of Nevada, USA.

Almost 30 years later, IASK is still a non-profit association, now incorporated as an international association under French law. IASK is the only international association open to all Specialized Kinesiologists and all modalities from everywhere in the world.

IASK’s Vision:

to establish a  professional image of Specialized Kinesiology worldwide

•   to offer a platform for international exchange of personal and professional experiences

•   to organize international conferences and meetings

•   to be a forum for the introduction and discussion of new kinesiology techniques

•   to provide guidance to allow practitioners to assume their personal responsibility, based on the IASK Code of Ethics

Cooperation:

The members of IASK support, inspire and enrich each other in their own personal development and professional work. We believe that the abundance of knowledge and experience worldwide can, through sharing, become an invaluable source of productivity and creative growth.

IASK has set up a multi-lingual website www.iask.org and special blog www.kinescbc.blogspot.com, with the main purpose of gathering and supplying information from all countries and regions around the world relative to their legal environments, training requirements and course accreditation criteria, as well as research projects and news.

Conferences, international meetings, recent activity:

Since 1992, IASK has organized annual and bi-annual conferences around the world. In May 2014 the first international meeting of professional associations of Specialized/Energy Kinesiology practitioners was held in Copenhagen. It was a big success confirmed by the second meeting, which was held on January 17th 2015, in Lisbon, Portugal. The third meeting was held January 15th and 16th 2016 in Amsterdam, Netherlands, with the Dutch kinesiology association ‘Beroepsvereniging voor Kinesiologie’ acting as host. IASK expects this breakthrough to mark a new era of cooperation and progress for the community of Specialized/Energy Kinesiologists worldwide. Through these meetings, practitioners from around the world, who help shape the decisions taken by their associations, make lasting connections and friendships with their peers, exchange ideas and solve common problems.

Benefits of Membership:

Associate Membership:  National Professional Associations can choose to send one or more representative(s) from their Boards  to attend the annual Meeting of Associations. This event allows professionals from all over the world to compare notes and experiences and to assist each other with challenges, for example, making specialized kinesiology more accepted in the medical world or by insurance companies or finding sources of quality research. Surveys  are being carried out by national associations under the aegis of  IASK to compare standards of practice and training as well as regulatory environments in the different countries represented in IASK; A first international research project has also been launched. The results of all these projects  are available for use by associations.

Regular Membership:  Kinesiology practitioners who like to travel, meet like-minded people, think outside of the box, and be surprised and challenged by new points of view and new ideas, will very much benefit from belonging to an international association like IASK. They will receive the ‘News from the Board’ bulletin periodically, sharing what's happening elsewhere in the Specialized Kinesiology world. Members are also able to take advantage of the discounted rates at international conferences, and at classes and events organized by, or co-sponsored by IASK. IASK members also benefit by being able to advertise their workshops on IASK international directory. As IASK members, they are very welcome to advertise their membership to IASK on their personal homepage and to add a link to www.iask.org. When a professional association is a member of IASK, individual members of that association pay only half the membership fee to become regular members of IASK. More importantly, they will know they are part of a much bigger community and will be able to derive both joy and pride from supporting and being involved in the life of IASK.

Next International Conference

IASK's next International Conference will be organized with with AKSI in Bergamo, Italy from April 28th to May 1st, 2017.
