1.) Cáfolja Marshallt, aki úgy álltja be, hogy Stuart útvonalához nem kapott engedélyt. Lee jelentése szerint ez nem igy volt, utalva a június 23-i parancsban irottakra és Longstreet kisérőlevelére.<br>
2.) Mosby rámutat, hogy mikor Stuart kézhez vette parancsait, Ewell már Pennsylvaniában volt, nem pedig a Shenandoah völgyben, igy a jobbszárnyára való csatlakozáshoz először meg kellett találni. Cáfolja, hogy Stuart feladata az észak felé mozgó derékhad jobbszárnyának védelme lett volna. Lee június 23-án hajnali ötkor azt irta neki: If General Hooker's army remains inactive, you can leave two brigades to watch him, and withdraw with the three others; but should he not appear to be moving northward I think you had better withdraw this side of the mountain tomorrow night, cross at Shepherdstown next day (25th), and move over to Fredericktown. You will, however be able do judge whether you can pass around their army without hindrance, doing them all the damage you can, and cross the river east of the mountains. In either case, after crossing the river you must move on and feel the right of Ewells troops collecting information, provisions, etc.<br> ezért fizikai lehetetlenség volt egyszerre Ewellel maradni és Hookert megfigyelni, tehát Mosby szerint Stuart útvonala katonailag helyes volt.
