Mike Nichols

Mike Nichols' (Németország, Berlin, 1931. november 6.) egy német származású amerikai televízó, színház és filmrendező, forgatókönyvíró és filmproducer. Nichols az egyik a 20 művész közül, aki elnyerte az Oscar-díjat, Emmy-díjat, Grammy-díjat és a Tony Awards-ot.

Korai évek

Nichols eredeti neve Michael Igorevitch Peschkowsky, Berlinben született German Brigitte Landauer és Russian Igor Nicholaievitch Peschkowsky orvos fiaként. Ő és zsidó családja az Egyesült Államokba menekült a náci rezsim elől 1939-ben. 1944-ben szerzett amerikai állampolgárságot, majd Manhattan-be járt általános iskolába.

Karrier

Nichols filmkarrierje a Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? című filmmel kezdődött 1966-ban, amit Oscar-díjra jelöltek. Majd a The Graduate című filmjével elnyerte a legjobb rendező Oscar-díjját. Emmy-díjat a Wit (2001) című filmjéért kapott, valamint a Angels in America című 2003-ban készült mini tévé sorozatáért.

Nichols bloggerként rész vesz a The Huffington Post szerkesztésében.

Nichols négy filmet forgatott Meryl Streep-el, kettőt Julia Roberts-el, és négy filmet a háromszros Orscar-díjjas Jack Nicholson-al.

Magánélete

Nichols négyszer nősült. Első felesége Patricia Scott; 1957-től 1960-ig voltak házasok. Utána Margo Callas követte 1963 és 1974 között, Daisy Nichols néven lányuk született. Harmadik felesége Annabel Davis-Goff volt, tőle két gyermeke született, Max Nichols és Jenny Nichols. 1986-ban váltak el. Jelenlegi felesége Diane Sawyer, 1988. áprilisában házasodtak össze.
