„Titicaca-tó” változatai közötti eltérés

 

Titicaca is fed by rainfall and meltwater from glaciers on the [[sierra]]s that abut the [[Altiplano]]. It is drained by the [[Desaguadero River]], which flows south through [[Bolivia]] to [[Poopó|Lake Poopó]]; however, this effluent accounts for less than five per cent of the water loss, the rest being accounted for by evaporation as a result of the strong winds and intense sunlight at this altitude.

 

Mivel a tó délkeleti részét a Tiquina-szoros elválasztja a tó nagyobbik felétől, ezért a bolíviaiak is, a peruiak is eltérően nevezik a tó ezen két részét. Bolíviában a kisebb rész neve ''Lago Huinaymarca'', a nagyobbé ''Lago Chucuito''. Peruban ugyanezek a részek a ''Lago Pequeño'', illetve ''Lago Grande'' névre hallgatnak.
