For the seamless run of Wikipedia it is required to log the data of the editors, and this data sometimes should be used to prevent abuse- This is resulated by the privacy policy in detail.

The data I control only used to get (and will get) used (along with the requirements in the Pricavy Policy) when this could help prevent disturbing Wikipedia (for example vandalising articles, vote abuse or any repeated abuse of the policies), and this data helps identifying the names and/or addresses of the editors in question.

Examples of the possible use of the data:
* Sock puppet check, especially in the cases when there is possible vote abuse [possibly backed by at least 5 requests], in the case when policies are broken or abused by using sock puppets or when <s>at least one editors</s> <u>both editors<u> (accused of sock puppetry) agrees with the check.
* blocking of an IP range/subnet if it become necessary.
* Complaint for the ISP of the person in question when the community agrees that the editor was significantly disturbing or abusing Wikipedia, violates its interests of puts its working or existence in danger.

The list above is not exclusive: there could be a check in any case where it is necessary and the admin or editor community requests it. (This should be decided by a vote with similar properties as the "official policy vote" but possibly taking much shorter time.)

The personal informations do not get published, apart from the inherent cases where the name match or name-IP match could be devised by observing the blocks, or in the case of anonymous edits (so there will be no list containing the IP of an editor or its ISP devised from the checkuser results).
