Hi sorry that i'm writing english but my hungarian language knowlegde is very poor. Since i'm working on the german articles over Slovak towns and municipalities, i noticed that you elaborated many articles over these places in hungarian language (at least much more than in the slovakian wikipedia :)) ). I'm of course interested in these informations and try to improve my hungarian readingknowledge. But my question is another, i want to know where you have got your knowledge about the names (especially the german ones) from the small villages and towns. Since i am in Vienna, i'm always looking for resources like maps or books but hardly can find anything. At least, i started a huge table, where all actually existing towns and villages in Slovakia are listed among their known german and of course hungarian names (can be found here de:Liste der Städte und Gemeinden in der Slowakei. Maybe you want to copy this table also into the hungarian wikipedia and could fill out more names since it is quite difficult for me to find the names (i'm referring to the maps under [1], [2] and [3]) but the names have been changed sometimes slightly or completely. Let's see what you say about my proposals Viszontlátásra --Murli 2005. május 12., 19:55 (CEST)
Übrigens kennst Du das Buch Ernst Hochberger: Reisehandbuch und Kunstführer, Verlag Ing. Hochberger, 1990. Ich sehe, Du kennst das. Also Darinko hat auf seiner Seite 61 (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Quellen --Mt7 2005. május 13., 01:16 (CEST)
- Might be better to write in english because not any hungarian user might be able to read german. At least, i'm also using "Das große Buch der Slowakei" from Ernst Hochberger, i think you're meaning this book, but it's not complete enough and has only info about the bigger towns! --Murli 2005. május 13., 08:23 (CEST)
Hi, Murli! Thank You for the informations, I will surely use them. The german names of the Slowakian places I mostly worked in from a dictionaty in hungarian language. The name is: Lelkes György: Magyar helységnévazonosító szótár. This dictionary includes all the places from the old Hungary before Trianon and all variations of the names. About the german names I recommend You another place in the net: this is http://www.f15.parsimony.net/forum25980/index.htm Here You can find pages about the germanian names. - At least the website you mentioned is not very reliable because the german names they report are often "translated" from mediaval forms and do not indicate the real form that might be used in the 18th or 19th century. It would be the same as if you would use "Poson" or "Boson" or "Posony" instead of Pozsony, it's not the current hungarian form. At least i have found a publication from the carpathiangerman-webpage here ("DEUTSCHE ORTSNAMEN IN DER SLOWAKEI"-german toponymes in slovakia) and it helps me out and seems very reliable! You can confer the german Okres-pages of Slovakia for these "correct" names, i also link them to the hungarian "járás"-pages. --Murli 2005. június 4., 21:16 (CEST)
