==Rurik a bolgár Djagfar Tarihi krónikában Lachyn néven szerepel (ha a 'rurik' méltóságnév volt, akkor ez lehetett az igazi neve), és kissé eltérő történet rajzolódik ki róla, ez a forrás arról tudósít, hogy 882-ben vagy az azt követő években halt meg:
